WHAT A PART OF HISTORY!! WW2 Japanese captured flags and photos during the surrender of YAP Island in the Pacific Theater on September 5, 1945 and the formal surrender on the USS TILLMAN a day later. These artifacts are in excellent condition. Both Japanese National Flags are made of silk and the larger being 29x37 but has some staining and minor tears. The smaller flag is 13x15 1/2 and ahs Kanji, both flags retain their ties. Formerly belonged to Captain Van Mater, Commander of Destroyer Division Twelve.
